The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (CWTS) returns home this weekend as they will race in the backyard of NASCAR in Charlotte, North Carolina for race No.4 of the 2014 season. After a crazy race at Kansas Speedway last week with Kyle Busch taking the win, the series will make its once-a-year visit to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the N.C. Education Lottery 200 on Friday night.

Charlotte Motor Speedway opened its gates in 1960, and stands as one of the premier places to put your name on the winner’s trophy. With 110 Sprint Cup races and 64 Nationwide Series races, it is one of the most historic race tracks in NASCAR.

In 2003, the CWTS made its first start at the track, and have since added many memorable moments to the tracks rich racing history. In 2005, Busch scored his first career CWTS victory by a narrow margin over Terry Cook. Later down the line, Justin Lofton and Matt Crafton also had their maiden victories come here at Charlotte. Will we see another first time winner on Friday night?

A strong underdog to root for will be German Quiroga, who is looking for his first career win this weekend in Charlotte. Quiroga has had a great start to the year with three-straight top-10 finishes and sits just four points out of the points lead.

In 11 total races, Busch has the most wins with five, including three of the last four. Ron Hornaday is a two-time winner (2007, 2009), has six top-five finishes in his last eight Charlotte starts with 170 laps led.

Charlotte has been a pretty good track to me over the years,” said Hornaday. “We had a little bad luck last week in Kansas that kept us out of victory lane last week, so there’s nothing I’d like more than to go back and win this one for everyone at Turner Scott Motorsports.”

Turner Scott Motorsports will have three entries this weekend with rookie Ben Kennedy in the No. 31 ALS Association Silverado, and Tayler Malsam behind the wheel of the No. 32 Outerwall Silverado. Malsam made his first Truck Series start since 2011 last week in Kansas, finishing an impressive fifth.

Points leader and reigning CWTS champion Crafton (aka Mr. Consistency), got his first career Truck Series victory at Charlotte in 2008. Although the track holds a special place in his heart, his recent success at the track has not returned the love with only one top-10 finish in the last four Charlotte races and not a single lap led since 2009.

Brad Keselowski will make his first start of the season driving the No.19 Draw-Tite Ford, most recently piloted by Joey Logano in Kansas. The 2012 Sprint Cup Champion, is still looking for his first career CWTS victory.

2012 Charlotte winner Lofton will make his 2014 CWTS debut driving the No.9 Gunbroker.com Chevy. Austin Dillon returns in the #20 Chevy for NTS Motorsports for the second week in a row, and Max Gresham and Scott Riggs will also make their first starts of the young season.

If you want a favorite to win on Friday, the best choice would be the driver of the No.51 Toyota of Busch. He has won three of the last four CWTS races at Charlotte, 415 laps led, and has an outstanding 13 Charlotte wins in total among the three national series. He also won last week in Kansas so keep an eye out for Rowdy as he goes for back-to-back wins for 2014.
